The Choice: Tritton Simple NAS OR Tritton Wireless NAS

Since the network attached storage (NAS) has been developed, it has received patronage and acceptance. Prior to the NAS many networking aficionados were problematic on their data preservation. And finally, they were relieved; the NAS is a heaven-sent solution. Valuable information in their archive will surely be safeguarded. There is one brand of NAS that has been demanded – the Tritton NAS. Why not? For many years, Tritton brand of computer peripherals had survived the weather of wear and tear. They remain serviceable despite the many years of usage. So for network attached storage, many computer users demand a Tritton NAS.

Tritton Technologies was founded in 2000 and since then it has brought to the electronics arena high performance computer peripherals. Today, all the innovations in technology are carried and incorporated by this Vista, California based manufacturing company. The product known as Network Attached Storage (NAS) has been proven to be a very effective central point to store data. The data is shared with all other computers connected to the network. With the Tritton NAS, several PCs and Macs can easily access files that are shared in the network. Even those which are connected by internet can enjoy and make use of the shared files. Not only computers, even printers attached to the network will also share files.

When you buy a Tritton NAS, you can choose between the simple or wireless Tritton NAS.

The Tritton Simple NAS at 160GB is cost saving and designed for small SOHO (small office/home office) use. It is user friendly because all you have to do is connect the Simple NAS to your network.

The Value Of Ethernet Enclosure In The Computer Networking Family

Ethernet enclosure – why do you need it? Your data is precious; you store it in a hard drive. So it becomes your concern to protect this hard drive. What happens if this storage device breaks down? Gone are your hours of hard work – your data can be lost forever! If this is important to one computer, how much more it is to a network? So, a need for Ethernet enclosure is called for under the circumstance.

Understanding the meaning of Ethernet –

Ethernet is a family. The integral members of this family are frame-based network technology of computers. They are specifically for use in LAN (local area network). The term Ethernet was conceptualized from the term ether which is a description of wire and signal for physical layer of OSI model of networking. It also embodies media access control and data link layer.

The concept of enclosure

Enclosure is related to external data storage devices. They were invented in answer to the problem regarding conservation of data in the delicate hard disk drives. So although it is for hard drive, it is for protection of the data contained in the external data storage device.

Know the basic features and technical details of your Ethernet enclosure

This type of enclosure is actually a combination of Ethernet and USB2.0 where you can install any chosen external hard drive. In order for the network storage to be protected and secured, it should contain the NDAS technology. For this, no server is mandated and at the same time does not require IP configuration.

It is best that the Ethernet enclosure is compact. Its lightweight drive must offer a plug and play set-up. Establishing a back-up is needed and there should be room for expansion. Thus, the Ethernet enclosure needs a software feature that would allow a RAID 1 (redundant arrays of inexpensive/independent disks) or RAID 0.

This enclosure should work under a PC or Mac hardware platform with RAID as its form factor. The type of drive for this Ethernet enclosure supports IDE ATA 100/133 Hard Drive. Its interface is Ethernet and USB2.0. The rate of transfer for USB2.0 is 480 Mbps while that of Ethernet is 100 Mbps. The cable type is Category 5e or even better and the LEDs are power and Link/ACT.

For PC system requirement, its OS is Windows 2000/XP with a minimum processor or 350 MHz and 128MB RAM. It can use a USB 1.1 port, but the UAB2.0 is better – according to suggestions. It contains a CD-ROM and a 100 MB NIC for NDAS connection.

For the Mac system requirement, it needs OS x 10.2 or even higher and a G4 processor. A RAM of 256 MB is recommended although 128 MB can suffice. It must have CD-ROM drive, 100 Base T duplex- switch for NDAS connection.

So if you are running a local area network, your data is secured when your external hard disk drive is protected by Ethernet enclosure. This device will not cost you so much but the benefits to ensure the product of hard work are guaranteed.

More Hard Disks In A New Array Set-Up – Network Attached Storage With Raid Technology

Have you ever thought of sharing and being shared of valuable data especially videos, audios and games? The best solution if you want to have this kind of sharing is for you to go on a network. The Network attached storage raid (NAS) will do wonders for you and your friends. You already have a new high efficiency storage device in NAS; enhancements were discovered to further improve this feature. The innovations resulted to the Network attached storage raid.

You find NAS in your various internet searches. This stands for network attached storage. When you have a computer that has NAS, that computer gets connected to a network. It will provide services, the file-based data services, to all other devices connected to this network. There is another attached storage system and do not be confused with this. It is called DAS or direct attached storage. DAS cannot perform the versatile function of NAS. The DAS is only an extension of a server that has been previously in existence. Unlike the NAS, it is not attached to a network. Data sharing with NAS is easier as this is linked to a network. On NAS, it is possible to run other softwares. Although NAS is a computer connected to a network, it is not equipped with a keyboard and display. The Network attached storage raid units are controlled by the network and not by themselves. Browser is used in lieu of keyboard and display.

NAS is not a general purpose server. Bear this in mind and do not expect it to serve the purpose of general server. But more data can be shared within NAS units when it has a built-in RAID (redundant arrays of inexpensive/independent disks).

RAID is a computer technology designed for the purpose of allowing better reliability of stored data from a less reliable PC disk or drive. It converts the less reliable into better reliability because of a technique involved in arranging multiple devices into arrays to become redundant. During the later period, supporters of RAID dropped the “inexpensive” part and took RAID as redundant array of independent disks to remove the connotation of RAID being low-cost.

The network attached storage raid is a computer data storage that has a special function or feature. NAS with RAID enables the user to divide and duplicate the data that are contained in the multiple hard disks connected to the network. The difference in architecture of one RAID over another version is the suffixing of a number such as RAID 0 or RAID1. Network attached storage raid is simply a storage device in a network where the data reliability is very strong and that input and output performance is high. The array in this technology becomes the distributor of data to the multiple disks. The user of this technology can view the array and the operating system as one disk only.

If you are a computer enthusiast wanting to go networking, you would need a storage device as vital as a network attached storage raid. Make an array of the hard disks in the network. You will never be troubled by fear of losing your valuable computer assets and collections. Your data are definitely in good storage device!
